Dental implants are metal(Titanium) screws that are surgically placed into the jawbone under the gum level. Once in place, they allow dentist to place a crown(tooth) onto them.

If your jaw bone is too thin or soft to keep the implant  dental insert in place in its current state or If the bone cannot support the implant, it may cause the implant surgery to fail. In a bone grafting procedure your dentist will take the bone from your own mouth(from another area of mouth) or use a special material to graft into your jaw to facilitates the bone growth in particular area of your mouth.
